White Oak Studios is run by Chris with help from her husband Ian.  They live in beautiful Northumberland with their dog Lexi.
Chris has over a decade of experience shooting commercially and a passion for the artist side of the genre culminating in the completion of a masters in Photography Visual Communication.

"I have been taking photos for as long as I can remember, I did not always know it would become my life and my career but my enthusiasm for the subject has only grown over the years. Teaching has been a natural fit allowing me to study the subject deeply and discuss photographs every day- what is not to love? I believe in the benefits of lifelong learning; in the happiness and fulfilment that can come from creative productivity and an atmosphere of growth.
I look forward to welcoming more and more photographers into our friendly learning community."

I’m a proud member of Nature First: The Alliance for Responsible Nature Photography and I’m dedicated to following the Nature First Principles:
  • Prioritize the well-being of nature over photography.

  • Reflect on the possible impact of your actions.
  • Use discretion if sharing locations.
  • Know and follow rules and regulations.
  • Always follow Leave No Trace principles and strive to leave places better than you found them.
  • Actively promote and educate others about these principles

Personal Projects

I am in love with traditional photography and often experiment with making cyanotypes, a few examples are included below. I particularly enjoy the tactile nature of a contact print, so I especially like to blend these together with lens based images to form new and unique pieces.
